Owned, installed, used
For each paid application, AppBox compares three realities. The gap between them quantifies waste, in euros.
- Owned: the number of licenses (or seats) you pay for.
- Installed: the number of devices where the application is present.
- Used: the number of devices where it is actually used (see Measuring real usage).

Content: the three-bar visual (owned / installed / used) with the quantified waste.
The gap visual
AppBox presents these three values as aligned bars, with the "wasted" gap highlighted and quantified in euros. Example:
Adobe Photoshop Category: Design
Owned ████████████████████ 40
Installed ██████████████ 28
Used ██████ 12 ⚠
28 installed − 12 used = 16 wasted
~ 4,800 EUR/year recoverable [ Act ]
At a glance, you see how many licenses are paid for nothing and the potential saving.
Where the price comes from
The cost of a license resolves in this order:
- The price you entered (your real contract rate) if it exists: it takes precedence;
- otherwise a reference price (an estimate managed by LongLife);
- otherwise a category default price.
The report always states the price source (estimated or entered by you), for transparency. You can enter your real prices to refine the estimates.
Where owned licenses come from
The agent cannot read your license keys (encrypted). So "owned" comes from:
- your entered / imported licenses in the platform;
- otherwise a deduction (1 install = 1 license), which keeps the installed/used gap meaningful even without entry.
Using these gaps to save is detailed in Rationalization and savings.
